Windsor Road reopens in Urbana

URBANA — The assistant Urbana city engineer announced Friday afternoon that all lanes of Windsor Road between Race Street and Philo Road are now open to traffic.

Work crews will be patching potholes continually on this section of Windsor Road to keep the road open until the pavement can be permanently reconstructed starting this summer.

Motorists are advised to drive carefully on that stretch of Windsor, where the pavement is suffering from a chemical reaction that is causing it to crumble. Rough Road signs are in place as are advisory speed limit signs dropping the limit from 40 to 30 mph.

Those will remain in place until further notice.

Urbana is working on long-term plans to reconstruct the Windsor Road pavement.

Further information about Windsor Road can be found on the city's website at http://urbanaillinois.us under the News & Press section.
