Autopsy done on Tuscola man hit by train

TUSCOLA — An autopsy conducted Monday indicated that a Tuscola man who was hit by a train died from blunt force trauma.

Douglas County Coroner Joseph A. Victor said that Matthew Wilke, 26, was found by the tracks near Ohio and East North Central streets by a passer-by early Sunday morning. The passer-by then reported it to Tuscola police.

Victor pronounced Mr. Wilke dead at the scene at 7:30 a.m.

According to Victor, an autopsy performed in Urbana showed that the man died from blunt force trauma injuries from pedestrian-train impact.

Victor said the incident is under investigation by his office and the Tuscola Police Department.

He said a decision has not been made on holding an inquest.
