One Winter Night falls short of fundraising goal

An official with C-U at Home said the organization has fallen short of its goal of raising money for the homeless through an event held more than two weeks ago.

C-U at Home Executive Director Melany Jackson said about $45,000 dollars was raised from One Winter Night, which was held on Feb. 21.  The goal for the event was $60,000.  Jackson said the organization is still waiting for some money to come in from a couple of sponsors, but the deadline to donate to One Winter Night was Friday of last week.

The funding will be used for a recovery house, a family house and a daytime drop-in center for the homeless.  Jackson added that C-U at Home is still looking for a location for the daytime drop-in center in the downtown or midtown areas of Champaign.
