Urbana man faces multiple charges

URBANA — An Urbana man is being held at the Champaign County Jail following his arrest for allegedly trying to enter a house over the weekend.

Wayne Allen Cain, 33, who listed an address in the 500 block of Fair Street, was charged Monday with residential burglary, disorderly conduct, criminal trespass to a residence and resisting or obstructing a peace officer.

Cain's bond was set at $20,000. He is due back in court on May 6.

According to an Urbana police report, residents of a home in the 800 block of Shurts Street reported that a man had opened a bedroom window in their house and was trying to get inside the home at 4 a.m. Sunday.

When police arrived at the scene, the man, later identified as Cain, ran away through the backyard.

Officers chased him for a couple of blocks before catching him, arresting him and taking him to jail.

According to the report, Cain told police he had been drinking at a friend's house and thought he was at his mother's house.
