UI seeks 'person of interest' in Lincoln Hall burglary

URBANA — The University of Illinois has released a photo from a surveillance camera in its search for a "person of interest" in a burglary and suspicious activity at Lincoln Hall.

UI police say someone stole two security cameras from the center east entrance of Lincoln Hall at 5:54 p.m. Thursday.

Surveillance video shows someone entering the hall just before the theft.

"Once inside Lincoln Hall, this person was behaving suspiciously and exited the building soon after the cameras were removed," the UI said.

The man is described as white, in his 20s, of medium build, with short dark hair. He was wearing a gray hooded zipper sweatshirt, a red or orange undershirt, and blue jeans.

Police ask anyone with information to call them at 333-1216. They can also call Crimestoppers at 373-TIPS, post online at 373tips.com or send a text message by sending CCTIP plus the information to CRIMES (274637).
