Westville school roof replacement to cost $1.2 million

WESTVILLE — Replacing the roof at Judith Giacoma Elementary School is expected to cost the district $1.2 million. It will be funded by issuing life-safety bonds this spring that will have to repaid.

Bids for the work will open soon, and school board members may select a contractor and vote to sell the bonds as early as their April 16 meeting. The work is expected to take place over the summer.

In other news, the board voted to reduce the home-economics teaching position from a full-time to a half-time starting with the 2014-15 school year.
