Health district adds hours for health care signup

CHAMPAIGN — The Champaign-Urbana Public Health District will offer extra evening and weekend hours for the final week available to enroll in health insurance to meet the requirements of the Affordable Care Act.

Open enrollment in health plans available through the government marketplace will end March 31 for the year.

The health district will have enrollment staff help available at its headquarters at 201 W. Kenyon Road, C, from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. weekdays, starting Tuesday and running through March 31.

Enrollment help will also be available Saturday, March 29 from 10 am. to 1 p.m.

After March 31, enrollments in marketplace health plans will be closed for this year, unless someone experiences a qualifying life event, such as a marriage, birth of a child, divorce, or move to a new state.

Enrollment in Medicaid, the government health plan for the needy, will continue after the end of this month.
