GIBSON CITY — Two key positions, plus a number of others, could be filled by the Ford County Public Health Department board during its next meeting.
Board President Mike Short of rural Paxton said two candidates for the public health administrator's job were interviewed in closed session on March 20, and the board may be prepared to name one of them to the position during its April 7 meeting at Gibson Area Hospital.
Short said the board also may be prepared at that time to hire an environmental health director, for which two candidates were interviewed earlier in March.
Thirteen other jobs, all being advertised on Ford County's website until Monday, could be filled next month, as well.
The Ford-Iroquois Public Health Department's interim administrator, Steve Williams, is expected to make recommendations to the board on filling the positions at the April meeting, Short said.
Short said the two candidates for the administrator's position had "very good interviews" with the board, adding that "they both bring different, albeit strong qualities" to the job.
The positions need to be filled in preparation for establishing the new Ford County Public Health Department on July 1.
