Area road repair projects starting

CHAMPAIGN — Traffic will be reduced on Broadmoor Drive beginning Monday for pavement repair work.

The eastbound lane of Broadmoor will be closed between Mayfair Road and Robert Drive.

Traffic headed east will not be allowed in the construction area, and properties along

Broadmoor could be inaccessible for up to seven days.

The lane is scheduled to reopen on April 11.

Other Champaign street closings scheduled for this week:

■ Devonshire Drive. The section between Lakeside Drive and Sandpiper Lane will close beginning Monday.

Through traffic will not be allowed in the construction area.

The section is scheduled to reopen on April 11.

■ Windsor Road. The portion between Eagle Ridge Drive and Briar Hill Drive will be closed starting Tuesday and continuing through as late as mid-August.

A marked detour will direct motorists around the construction project by way of Staley Road, Kirby Avenue, Curtis Road and Duncan Road.

The project is designed to improve Windsor Road between Field South Drive and Briar Hill Drive and to match the bridge that state workers completed over Interstate 57 in 2013.

A work crew will widen Windsor for new on-street bike lanes and sidewalks on both sides of the road. New LED streetlights will also be installed.

The construction contract specifies that Windsor reopen to traffic by Aug. 15.

The entire Windsor Road Bridge Approaches Improvement Project is scheduled to be completed by Oct. 15.
