LeRoy buys former fire/ambulance building

LeROY — The city council approved an agreement with the LeRoy Fire Protection District in a divided vote.

Per the deal, the city will pay the fire department $5,000 per year for five years at a total cost of $25,000 for the old fire and ambulance building at no interest. The agreement also requires a flagpole be built by the city in the new fire protection district building, which could open in June, not to exceed $2,000.

The council plans to use the building for a new police station and possible municipal offices, but has no long-term plan for construction projects on the building.
