Man sentenced to prison for predatory criminal sexual assault of a child

URBANA — A Mahomet man who admitted sexually molesting a child has been sentenced to six years in prison.

Joshua Huddleston, 35, who listed an address on County Road 2500 N, pleaded guilty Thursday before Champaign County Judge Tom Difanis to a single count of predatory criminal sexual assault of a child, a Class X felony.

Assistant State's Attorney Troy Lozar said the contact happened some time between February and October 2013 with a girl under the age of 13.

Lozar said at the time of Huddleston's arrest in December there were allegations that there was a second victim. But police investigation revealed the other alleged offenses happened in another state and therefore, could not be charged in this county.

In exchange for Huddleston's plea to the more serious charge, Lozar dismissed two less serious counts of aggravated criminal sexual abuse against him.

Six years was the minimum prison term Huddleston could have received for predatory criminal sexual assault of a child. He was given credit on his sentence for 114 days already served.
