VILLA GROVE — City officials have contracted with two survey and testing firms to examine the proposed site of the new community building in the Richman Sports Complex. The site will be located just north of the current outdoor basketball courts.
MSA Professional Services will begin a topographic survey to lay out the elevation of the building at the site. Soil borings will also be conducted by Midwest Engineering and Testing to determine if the density is solid enough to bear the weight of the building at that location. The city will pay $8,700 for the testing services, which are needed to move forward with construction plans.
In other business, Alderman Bob Stipp announced that construction is scheduled to begin on the next phase of the eastside drainage project. It will involve the closing of Front Street at some point during installation.
