Danville man charged in Urbana break-in

URBANA — A Danville man has been charged with residential burglary and aggravated battery as a result of an incident at an Urbana home Wednesday morning.

Champaign County sheriff's Lt. Curt Apperson said that Bradley W. Nicholson, 38, of the 600 block of Highland Boulevard, was arrested for allegedly forcing his way into a home in the 2200 block of East University Avenue around 8:30 a.m.

Apperson said the victim came home to find Nicholson moving items around in his house. When the 46-year-old man confronted Nicholson, they got into a fight. Nicholson allegedly hit the man in the head with a fire extinguisher. Apperson said the resident was not seriously injured.

Apperson said the victim told deputies he did not know Nicholson, who was the ex-boyfriend of a woman living at the victim’s address.

Apperson said Nicholson has allegedly intended to steal clothing, including a leather coat and blue jeans.

Judge John Kennedy set bond for Nicholson at $15,000 and told him to be back in court May 27.
