Thomasboro OKs Taser purchase

THOMASBORO — The board approved Village Police Chief Keith Willis' request to purchase of one Taser for the department. The cost: $1,900.

Village President Brad Morris noted Tasers are at times "a politically charged tool."

Though no opposition was voiced, Willis noted repeatedly the advantages of using a Taser on someone over pepper spray or a police baton. He said he'd been budgeting for this purchase since the last annual budget meeting, in 2013.
