Man faces DUI charge after crash into Rantoul home

RANTOUL — Police arrested a Rantoul man after he allegedly drove his car into the front of a house in the village early Sunday morning.

No injuries were reported.

Reginald Allen, 40, of 1132 Englewood Drive was charged with driving under the influence, leaving the scene of an accident and failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident.

Rantoul police Sgt. Justin Bouse said a witness estimated the speed of the 2008 Cadillac Allen was driving at between 50-60 mph in a 25 mph zone.

Bouse said the car struck the porch, porch railing and brick support post at a house at 396 N. Sheldon St. at about 4:03 a.m.

Total damage was estimated at more than $500.

Rantoul firefighters were called to the scene due to structural damage to the home. Fire Chief Ken Waters said no one was home at the time of the accident.
