Updated: Fire extinguished in north Urbana

Fire officials are looking into the cause of a blaze that damaged a piece of equipment at a business north of Urbana Wednesday.

Carroll, Edge-Scott, Eastern Prairie, Thomasboro and St. Joseph-Stanton fire protection districts were called to the fire at about 3:50 p.m. 

Smoke was reported showing from the building when firefighters arrived. The fire was extinguished by 4:10 p.m. Wednesday.

Carroll Fire Lieutenant Jeremy Hoffman said the fire started on a Bobcat tractor and was contained there, but the maintenance shed that the tractor was in sustained smoke and water damage. A dollar-amount for damages was not immediately available. No injuries were reported.
