Authorities looking into tubing fire at ADM site

FARMER CITY — Authorities are investigating a fire started on the Archer Daniels Midland property north of Blue Ridge High School on John Street.

Farmer City Fire Chief Dan Warren said no firefighters were injured when responding to the blaze at about 5:15 p.m. Thursday.

He said plastic tubing used for irrigation caught fire, triggering the blaze.

The fire was extinguished by 6 p.m., Warren said.

“As far as cost of damages, we don’t have any numbers yet and it is still being investigated,” Warren said.
