Danville shooting victim in critical condition

DANVILLE — Danville police are investigating a Wednesday night shooting that sent one man to the hospital in critical condition.

Director of Public Safety Larry Thomason said that police were called to the 2600 block of Cannon Street at 9:45 p.m. Wednesday where they found a 20-year-old Danville man lying in a yard with gunshot wounds to the chest area.

"Witnesses reported hearing several shots fired coming from the street. The victim apparently ran from the street to the yard," Thomason said.

The victim was treated by Medix Ambulance personnel and taken to Presence Medical Center in Danville, then transferred to an Urbana hospital.

Danville police are asking the public for any information about the incident. Call the Danville police detective section at 431-2250 or use Crimestoppers at 446-TIPS.
