Fisher hosts first track meet in years

FISHER — For the first time in about 20 years, the high school track team hosted a home meet on its new all-weather track. That is, thanks to community fundraising efforts led by Greg Liestman and donated work from area contractors.

Grade school principal Jim Moxley told the school board that Liestman led the entire junior high track team in a ceremonial first lap when it hosted a meet prior to the Bunnies' high school meet. The track actually opened last August — in time for the first home football game.

Liestman said the group has raised $490,000 of the $500,000 goal. This August, the three-year project will be completed. That includes installing new bleachers, a new press box and a walk of fame.
