Crisis Nursery plans event for Wednesday

URBANA — The Crisis Nursery is inviting the community to participate in its fourth annual "Wrap the Nursery" event Wednesday evening.

Set for 7:30 p.m. at the nursery at 1309 W. Hill St., U, this get-together is an awareness event which, this year, marks the end of Child Abuse Prevention Month.

People coming to Wrap the Nursery are asked to wrap around the nursery building as a show of community support for its work, and are encouraged to dress in blue, the color associated with child abuse prevention.

The Crisis Nursery, which provides 24-hour emergency care and shelter for children from birth to age six in crisis situations, cared for 850 children last year, its Development and Marketing Director Kristen Bosch said.

Wrap the Nursery is being held during the evening this year to tie in the Crisis Nursery's Darkness to Light "Stewards of Children" free sexual abuse prevention training, in which 250 local people have already taken part. There are 300 more people scheduled for this training from May to August.
