Urbana man gets 5 years for selling drugs

URBANA — An Urbana man who admitted he was selling the drugs that police found in his home earlier this year has been sentenced to five years in prison.

Eddie Lee Washington, 29, of the 700 block of Colorado Avenue pleaded guilty Wednesday before Judge Richard Klaus to manufacture or delivery of a controlled substance.

Assistant State's Attorney Sarah Carlson said on Jan. 3, narcotics investigators from the Champaign County Sheriff's Office served a search warrant at Washington's apartment and found about 8.3 grams of cocaine, a scale, plastic bags and $811 cash, including $30 worth of bills that had been recorded as buy money by the investigators.

Washington admitted he was selling cocaine, Carlson said.

Court records show Washington has prior convictions for possession with intent to deliver cannabis and aggravated battery.
