Office move to affect water payments

CHAMPAIGN — People accustomed to paying their Illinois American Water bills in person at the company's office on Devonshire Drive in Champaign will need to pay at other locations while the company gets ready to move to a new office in Urbana.

Beginning May 23, Illinois American will no longer accept payments on Devonshire Drive so that a new tenant can occupy that building.

Instead, customers can make their payments at 10 authorized payment centers in Champaign County that include:

— The Walmart stores in Champaign, Urbana, Savoy and Rantoul.

— The County Market stores at 331 E. Stoughton St., C, and at 1819 S. Philo Road, U.

— The Gifford State Bank offices in Thomasboro and St. Joseph.

— Champaign Do It Best Hardware at 107 W. Springfield Ave., C.

— Easy Pay, 902 N. Country Fair Drive, C.

According to Illinois American Water's website, a $1 fee is charged at the Gifford State Bank, Do It Best and Easy Pay locations, while there is no fee at Walmart and County Market sites.

Hours for each location are posted on the website,

Illinois American Water is expected to move into its new location at 1406 N. Cardinal Court, U, in November.

The new building will allow the company's distribution and field service teams to be located together.
