Police investigate home invasion in Urbana

URBANA — Police are investigating a home invasion early Saturday morning in Urbana.

According to a police report, a 23-year-old woman was asleep on the couch in an apartment in the 1000 block of Kerr Avenue when a man entered the apartment through an open window at 3:20 a.m.

The intruder demanded valuables from the woman and also attempted to sexually assault her, according the report.

The man then battered the woman with a “heavy object” that the victim believed could have been a gun.

The intruder then took some money and the woman’s cellphone and left the apartment.

No information was available as to whether the woman was injured.

The description of the intruder was incomplete.
