Open house planned at Champaign police department

CHAMPAIGN — The public is invited to an open house at the Champaign Police Department on Saturday to wrap up National Police Week.

The department will be open for the public to meet local officers and staff between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. There will be tours, historical displays and demonstrations from the K-9 unit, SWAT team, hostage-negotiation team, crime-scene technicians and the explosive-ordnance disposal unit.

The department is at 82 E. University Ave., C.
