Thomasboro woman arrested for residential burglary

URBANA — One woman has been arrested and a second woman is still at large in connection with a residential burglary Tuesday in Rantoul.

Yahaira Cuevas, 33, who listed an address in the 400 block of John Street, Thomasboro, was charged Wednesday with one count of felony residential burglary.

Cuevas is being held at the Champaign County Jail on $30,000 bond.

She is due back in court on June 10.

According to a police report, officers were called to a home in the 1200 block of Cypress Lane, Rantoul at 10:40 a.m. after a woman in her 20s who lived there called to report the incident.

She told police that Cuevas and a second woman knocked on the door and the proceeded to enter the house.

The second woman then stayed with the resident in the living room while Cuevas went through the house, taking some money and a television, according to the report.

No weapon was displayed.

Then Cuevas and the second woman left the house with the money and TV. They were both gone by the time the police arrived.

Police found Cuevas in the 400 block of South Chanute Street, Rantoul, after 12:30 p.m. Tuesday and arrested her.

Police were able to recover the TV, but not the money, the report said.

Police continue to look for the second intruder. She was described as a black female in her late 20s with a small build, black hair and brown eyes. She was wearing a black shirt and black pants.
