In 1914: The city of Champaign and the Baker Manufacturing Co. of Springfield are engaged in a dispute over the condition of a street sweeper the city bought from Baker but has already returned, claiming it did not meet specifications.

In 1964: Fourteen civil rights demonstrators were arrested at the headquarters of the Champaign County Board of Realtors' office. The demonstrators were protesting the National Association of Real Estate Board's opposition to the civil rights bill pending in Congress. The demontsrators were led by Rudy Frank, 22, of Shandaken, N.Y., president of the Central Illinois Friends of SNCC, the Student Non-Violent Coordinating Committee.

In 1999: The Rantoul Pool Advisory Committee has chosen a site southwest of the Forum Fitness Center on the old Chanute Air Force Base as the site of a new family aquatic center.
