Urbana man involved in fatal crash in Indiana

Indiana authorities said a man trying to help at crash scene was killed early Wednesday morning by an Urbana truck driver.

Indiana State Police said they believe 56 year-old Jack Yancer of Michigan stopped his semi truck to assist after a drunk driving rollover crash on the west side of Indianapolis on westbound Interstate 70.  The wreckage came to a rest in the center and right lane of I-70. That accident occurred just before 4 a.m. Wednesday.

Police said that Yancer was in the center lane attempting to warn and direct traffic away from the first crash when he was struck by another semi driven by 53 year-old George Parby of Urbana.  Yancer was pronounced dead at the scene.  Indiana State Police said alcohol and drugs are not believed to be a contributing factor in the second crash that killed Yancer.
