Gunfire between cars reported in Champaign; no injuries

CHAMPAIGN — Police are investigating a shooting in Champaign in which a home was hit by several bullets fired from cars chasing each other. No injuries were reported
According to a news release, spokeswoman Rene Dunn said police were called at 7:47 p.m. to the 800 block of North State Street, where witnesses reported hearing seven or eight gunshots.
Witnesses told police they saw a red car and a silver car chasing each other and their occupants shooting at each other.
No descriptions of those in the cars were available.
One house was hit by several bullets, but the man there was not hurt, and police don’t think he was the target of the shooting.
Police ask that anyone with information about the shootings call investigators at (217) 351-4545 or Crime Stoppers at (217) 373-8477. Callers can also submit anonymous tips online to Crime Stoppers at or by texting the following: CCTIP  plus the information to 274637 (CRIMES). Crime Stoppers will pay a reward up to $1,000 for information leading to the arrest of the persons responsible for this crime.
