Missing UI student found

A missing University of Illinois student has been found safe and is back with his family.

A Chicago police spokesman said 19 year-old Hye Min Choi, who's also known as Joseph Choi, was safely reunited with his family.

His family reported him missing when he failed to board a scheduled flight from Chicago's O'Hare Airport to his home in North Carolina on Saturday.  He had checked his luggage in but did not board the United Airlines flight.

The police spokesman could not provide details of who found Choi and where.  He did say that the police public affairs department was notified early Thursday morning that Choi was found safe.

Chicago police said earlier this week that Choi was apparently having problems during his first year at the Urbana campus but did not elaborate.  The UI said Choi is a junior in mechanical engineering.
