Police, coroner investigating death of infant girl in Rantoul

RANTOUL — Rantoul police said Sunday they are investigating the death of an infant girl on the village’s east side on Friday morning.

Rantoul Police Sgt. Justin Bouse said officers, along with ambulance personnel, were called to a home in the 1500 block of Hobson Drive at about 7:15 a.m. after receiving a report that the baby was not breathing.

The child, 11-week-old Tinsley R. Kohr, was pronounced dead at the scene at 8:11 a.m., according to Champaign County Coroner Duane Northrup.

Northrup said an autopsy was performed on the child on Friday afternoon in Urbana.

He said the results of the autopsy are pending further testing.

Bouse said the Rantoul Police Department and the coroner’s office are investigating the death.
