Renovations ongoing at UI band building

Renovation work is expected to resume Tuesday at the Harding Band Building on the University of Illinois campus.

Director of the Marching Illini and Athletic Bands Barry Houser said workers began removing the old tile in the building and the gallery seats in the rehearsal room last week.  Houser said crews are also removing some carpet, and some platforms in the rehearsal room will be made more permanent.

Houser said the band program is looking forward to the renovations in the building that opened in the late 1950s.

Houser added that the upgrades will create a much better situation for the Marching Illini, athletic bands, other concert bands and other students who use the building.  Houser said there's potential for more renovations in the future, like lighting and restroom upgrades.
