If you're a fan of the Illini and the St. Louis Cardinals, Friday night's baseball game at Busch Stadium is for you.
The 7:15 p.m. matchup between the defending NL champs and the San Francisco Giants is Illini Night.
Fans who purchased a special "Theme Night" ticket — the Cardinals said all tickets were purchased — received a voucher to receive a specially designed Illinois/Cardinals cap, with an orange bill, blue lettering and the famous "STL" letters. You may pick up your Illini cap at Riverview Corner, on the terrace level first base side across from section 434 from 5:45-7:45 p.m.
In addition, fans who bought the "Theme Night" tickets have a chance to get an autograph from former Illini basketball star and current Portland Trail Blazers center Meyers Leonard (above). The Cardinals said Leonard, a first-round pick from Robinson, will sign autographs from 5:45-6:15 p.m. in Riverview Corner.
In addition, Illinois football coach Tim Beckman is scheduled to throw out the first pitch that evening.
Cub fans had their UI theme day on May 2. Former Illini football player Kelvin Hayden threw out the first pitch and former quarterback Juice Williams helped sing during the seventh-inning stretch.
The White Sox are planning their own Illini-themed day July 18 at U.S. Cellular Field.
