Gifford school board OKs new bus garage

GIFFORD — A new five-bay Gifford Grade School bus garage will be constructed to replace the one destroyed by the Nov. 17 tornado.

The school board accepted the bid of BLDD Architects at a cost of $219,658.

The new garage will be built about 25 feet west of the previous bus garage and will be 54 feet wide, 80 feet long and 16 feet high. It will be a post wood-frame structure with metal wall and roof panels. Floors will be reinforced concrete.

Superintendent Rod Grimsley said the school board wanted a bus garage that would house the district's entire fleet — four buses and two vans — which this one will do. The old bus garage had three bays.
