Habitat for Humanity seeking volunteers for Gifford build

You have another opportunity to help some Gifford residents rebuild following last November's tornado.

Habitat for Humanity of Champaign County is looking for volunteers for a two week blitz build beginning Monday.

Habitat for Humanity of Champaign County Development Director Kelly Hill said volunteers can sign up anytime on the group's website even while the building projects are underway over the next two weeks.

Hill said volunteers can also show up in Gifford without first registering, but Habitat for Humanity prefers volunteers sign up first.  The website is the only way for volunteers to sign up.

All together, three homes will be built, five other homes will be rehabilitated and 12 landscaping projects will be completed during the two week blitz build.  Hill said a large number of other organizations are also involved in the building, rehabilitation and repair projects.

The work will be done between 8 a.m. and 3 p.m. each day starting Monday and running through June 13.  But, no work will be done on June 8.
