Roberts board considers regulation of dirt bikes

ROBERTS — Village Board President Rick Flessner plans to have a proposed ordinance ready for the board to review in June that would set rules for the use of dirt bikes in Roberts.

The board discussed whether to adopt a dirt-bike ordinance during its meeting on May 5. But no decision was made on the issue after the board learned that the people who had a dirt-bike track in town were removing it. Flessner said he would write up a proposed ordinance, anyway, for the board to read and possibly approve at its next meeting.

In other business:

— Flessner said he attended a recent meeting of the Roberts Gym Board and learned that the gym's kitchen renovation was nearly complete but not "up to code." Flessner said a hand-washing sink still needs to be installed. A commercial floor scrubber was purchased to clean the floors, he noted, making the work easier and faster than when using a mop.

— The annual street dance in Roberts will be held downtown from 8-11 p.m. on June 21. The Back Paiges will perform. The dance will help raise funds for Christmas decorations.
