RTHS feeder-school board under consideration

LUDLOW — Rantoul Township High School Superintendent Scott Amerio spoke to members of the Ludlow board at their May meeting regarding establishment of an advisory board of schools that feed into RTHS.

Amerio has been attending area school board meetings.

The superintendent said the plan is for at least one representative of each feeder school and RTHS to be part of the advisory board.

Ludlow Superintendent Dru Lobmaster said Amerio "presented (the idea) as a means for communication."

The board would meet quarterly.

Schools that feed into RTHS are Gifford, J.W. Eater, St. Malachy, Ludlow and Thomasboro.

In other business:

— The board approved a $128,416 bid from Advanced Commercial Roofing Inc. to replace a portion of the school roof with an energy-efficient roof. Lobmaster said the north portion of the roof will be replaced this summer.

— The board approved an extension of the district's contract with Illinois Central Bus Transportation. Lobmaster said the contract is for one year with an option for two more years.
