Woman faces drug charge

URBANA — An Urbana woman who allegedly sold heroin in that city earlier this week has been charged with a Class 2 felony.

Sara Stephenson, 32, who listed her address as the Motel 6, 1906 N. Cunningham Ave., was charged Friday with unlawful delivery of a controlled substance alleging she sold heroin on Tuesday.

Urbana police Investigator Dave Smysor said members of the department's street crimes unit made controlled buys of small amounts of heroin from Stephenson twice during May.

Based on those, they obtained a warrant to search her motel room Thursday. Smysor said although they found no heroin, police found digital scales, sandwich bags, razor blades with suspected heroin residue and cutting agents.

Stephenson admitted to police that she had been selling the drug and was arrested Thursday. She was released on her own recognizance and told to be back in court July 22.
