Davis hosts veterans' job fair

CHAMPAIGN — U.S. Rep. Rodney Davis, R-Taylorville, will hold a veterans job and resource fair Wednesday for veterans, military service members and their families at the Dodds Athletic Center at Parkland College.

The event, including more than 50 businesses and organizations, will be from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Also, professionals will be available to provide attendees with resume building tips, information about workforce training programs and help with Veterans Affairs casework.

"Transitioning from military to civilian life after serving your country can be difficult, especially in this economic environment," said Davis. "That is why I'm hosting this Job and Resource Fair, to connect area employers with men and women who have received some of the best training in the world and who have skill-sets vital to many civilian employees."

Among the organizations and businesses that will be in attendance are: Addus Healthcare, Busey Bank, Central Illinois Manufacturing Company, Champaign Park District, Champaign and Urbana police departments, Champaign-Urbana Mass Transit District, Clifford-Jacobs Forging Company, Conair Corporation, Federal Bureau of Investigation, Frasca International, Inc., Hobbico, Parkland College CDL program, Plastipak Packaging, Spherion, State Farm Insurance, UPS, VA Illiana Health Care System, WestPoint Financial Group and Wolfram Research.

To RSVP for the event or if you are an employer and would like to participate in the event, call Davis' office at 403-4690 or email Jennifer White at jen.white@mail.house.gov
