It won't be long until one of Champaign's coolest spots — the Prayer For Rain fountain at West Side Park — is pumping out water again.
Dry since the fall due to repair work on the statue's base, the fountain is scheduled to be up and running by next Saturday.
"The base will have a cleaner new look but the statue and everything else remains the same," Champaign Park District executive director Joe DeLuce said.
That includes the rules. Like ... no swimming even if it's 90 outside.
Can the kids still toss a penny in for good luck?
"Yes, they can throw coins in," DeLuce said. "We just hope that is all they throw in."
