Urbana man arrested for child pornography
URBANA — An Urbana man was arrested after police say they found child pornography on a home computer.
Shannon Lee Logan, 35, who listed an address in the 1400 block of Scovill Street, was charged on Monday with one felony count of child pornography for allegedly possessing with the intent to deliver computer depictions of child pornography in May.
If convicted, Logan faces between 6 and 30 years in prison, according to Champaign County State's Attorney Julia Rietz.
Logan is being held at the Champaign County Jail on $100,000 bond. He has been ordered to have no contact with children under 18 years of age.
Rietz said Urbana police investigated the case after the Department of Children and Family Services received a call about Logan on its hotline.
"The investigation revealed that Logan had been frequenting a chat room on the Internet while using a relative's computer, and had received images of child pornography, saved the images to flash drives and sent images to other users," Rietz said.
According to an Urbana police report, officers learned that there were stepchildren living in Logan's house.
Urbana police went to the home on Friday morning and entered with consent. After interviewing Logan, they allegedly found multiple pornographic images of children on a computer. Police say they also found evidence that Logan received pornographic images and sent them out to others.
Police arrested Logan and took him to the county jail. He is due back in court on July 8.
