Mahomet man gets prison over January break-in

URBANA — A Mahomet man with a history of break-ins in that village was sentenced Thursday to three years in prison.

Joshua Walker, 25, of the 500 block of East Franklin Street, pleaded guilty before Judge Harry Clem to a single count of burglary, admitting that on Jan. 3 he got in a vehicle in the 100 block of North McKinley Street without permission.

In exchange, another count of burglary was dismissed and his probation in a 2010 burglary case in which Walker was ordered to make restitution of more than $15,000 to multiple victims was unsuccessfully terminated.

Walker had also been convicted last September of misdemeanor criminal trespass to vehicle for breaking into a van in April 2013 on Jefferson Street in Mahomet. He served a jail sentence for that.
