Bohannon will do show from WDWS
CHAMPAIGN — National radio host Jim Bohannon will visit Champaign-Urbana next week to speak at a state broadcasters' meeting and deliver his nightly show from the Neil Street studios of WDWS.
Bohannon will be keynote speaker for the Illinois Broadcasting Association's Illinois Broadcaster of the Year luncheon on June 18 at the I Hotel and Conference Center.
He will host his nightly radio show the night before from WDWS.
Dial Global's "The Jim Bohannon Show" airs Monday through Friday from 9 p.m. to midnight Central time on more than 350 stations across the country, including WDWS.
Bohannon, who describes himself as a "militant moderate," brings listeners a blend of breaking news, features and reports on a range of topics. He also talks to guests and callers live.
"He's a pretty amazing guy, who can talk about anything," said Mike Haile, general manager of WDWS, WHMS and WKIO radio stations. "Two nights in a row are never the same."
He was recently nominated for the National Association of Broadcasters' Marconi Radio Award for the Network Syndicated Personality of the Year.
At next week's Illinois Association of Broadcasters' luncheon, Post-Newsweek Stations President and CEO Emily Barr will be honored as this year's Vincent T. Wasilewski "Broadcaster of the Year."
