Drilling to begin soon for Buckley well

BUCKLEY — Drilling of a new well at the village park will begin soon, the board learned at its recent meeting.

The board also learned that a loan for the well has been approved, and authorized president Evan Scott Shockley and Village Clerk Jim Biggs to sign the documents necessary to receive the second installment payment of the loan.

In other business:

— In village police officer Chris White's written report, he indicated he could buy a used camera system for the village's squad car for about $1,200. Trustees decided to table the matter until the next meeting.

— It was reported that the old drug store has been demolished.

— The board discussed that more effort and attention should be made in the enforcement of ordinances applying to golf carts, unlicensed vehicles and nuisance violations. The village police officer will review the ordinances and continue to work to enforce them.

— Buckley Fun Day is set for Saturday. Since there will be a 5K run that may be crossing the highway, extra help may be needed for traffic control. The fire department may be able to help out.

— The board approved additional police patrols for a dance the fire department will be hosting at the village lake on Saturday evening.

— Shockley indicated he is trying to get the best scrap price for the old street sweeper. He said he currently has two possibilities.
