Arson cited in Champaign fire; no injuries

CHAMPAIGN — A fire that caused minor damage at an apartment building Tuesday morning was intentionally set, fire officials say.
 
Firefighters were called to 702 Crescent Drive at 6:16 a.m. Tuesday. A resident of the 12-apartment building told them the stairs inside the building were on fire. 
 
The fire was quickly extinguished and investigators determined it was deliberately set.
 
No occupants of the building were displaced and no injuries were reported.
 
The fire did $5,000 damage.
 
The case has been turned over to Champaign police for investigation.
