Dean named for Labor and Employment Relations at UI
CHAMPAIGN — Interim dean Fritz Drasgow has been named the permanent dean of the University of Illinois School of Labor and Employment Relations.
Drasgow is a professor of labor and employment relations in Urbana. He has been on the UI faculty since 1982 and was a co-director of the Center for Human Resources Management from 1996 to 2004. Drasgow succeeds Joseph Martocchio, who returned to teaching after serving as interim dean. Drasgow has been the interim dean since last August.
"Dean Drasgow has worked to better the financial condition of the college, to develop a team of leaders with a shared vision for the future and to improve student support services," said UI provost Ilesanmi Adesida in a release.
Drasgow also holds an appointment in psychology. His expertise is in psychological measurement, computerized testing and modeling. He is a co-author of the book, "The Psychology of Work: Theoretically Based Empirical Research."
Drasgow earned his master's and doctoral degrees from the UI and his bachelor's degree from the State University of New York at Albany.
His salary will be $261,880 a year.
The appointment is pending approval by the UI Board of Trustees.
