Event to provide help for vision, dental services

CHAMPAIGN — Project Meet the Need will hand out vouchers for free vision and dental services from 4-7 p.m. June 21 at Champaign's Eisner Park.

In an event called See and Smile, this organization affiliated with Glory Center International Church hopes to get needed dental and eye care to people who can't afford to go to the dentist and the eye doctor, says its Director Delandis Beck.

There will be vouchers handed out for complimentary eye exams and prescription eyeglasses given out in cooperation with local eye care providers and some local dentists will help provide the vouchers for free dental cleanings for youths and seniors, Beck said.

The event will also feature free entertainment with bounce houses for kids, plus food vendors, and the Champaign Fire Department and Pro Ambulance will be there, Beck said.

Project Meet the Need also provides school back packs and haircuts for kids at back-to-school time in the fall and food and turkeys for families in need at Thanksgiving time.

Eisner Park is along North Russell Street, between Church Street and University Avenue.
