Updated: Monticello Road reopens
Both lanes of the Monticello Road were reopened east of Monticello after the road had buckled in the heat.
The road had been closed Thursday about 1.25 miles east of Monticello.
Monticello Township Highway Commissioner Charlie Montgomery said township and City of Monticello crews worked to remove a 24-foot section of the concrete road and fill it with gravel.
The road reopened shortly before 8 p.m. Thursday.
Montgomery said heat has caused three roads to buckle this year, but that this one was the largest yet, with the road raised over a foot.
