Westville gets new police car

WESTVILLE — Coming soon to the police parking lot: a new 2015 all-wheel-drive Ford Taurus.

Headed elsewhere: the squad's 2007 Dodge Charger, which has about 122,000 miles on it.

Board member Don Hall said this week that the newest vehicle in the Westville police fleet will soon be in service. The village plans to accept bids on its older vehicle.

In other business:

— Hall said that people should be made to abide by the rules of the village's golf cart ordinance. He complained that he saw drivers he believes were younger than 16, and that he recently counted seven people riding in one cart through the village.

— The board voted against trying to amend the village ordinance governing manufactured housing. In response to a citizen's request, a motion was made to hold a public hearing to make changes to the ordinance, but it was defeated, 5-1.
