Police looking for two more in Champaign shooting death
CHAMPAIGN — Champaign police have released the names of two more men they are looking for in connection with the shooting death of a Champaign man last week.
Devon D. Craig, 37, of Champaign, was arrested in Chicago last weekend in connection with Allen Redding’s shooting death in the 1500 block of Hedge Road on June 24. He was charged only with being an armed habitual criminal and remains jailed in lieu of $500,000 bond.
Mr. Redding, 26, was shot multiple times outside a home and died later of his injuries.
On Thursday, police announced that they are also looking for Paul E. Craig, 38, of the 1200 block of Paula Drive, Champaign, a brother to Devon Craig; and Micah Hopkins, 30, of the 1300 block of North Harris Street, Champaign.
Hopkins was charged the day after the shooting with aggravated discharge of a firearm and unlawful use of weapons. Paul E. Craig was charged Wednesday with being an armed habitual criminal and unlawful use of weapons by a felon. He’s currently on parole for aggravated battery.
Assistant State’s Attorney Steve Ziegler said he is “still exploring the possibility of more charges” as Champaign police continue to do interviews and produce reports.
“They are actively looking for them,” Ziegler said of police.
