Ludlow to get Little Free Library

LUDLOW — A Little Free Library is coming to Ludlow, thanks to a grant provided to the grade school by the Normal Mid-State Reading Council's Carol Berry Memorial.

With no library in Ludlow and no summer school or other access to the school's library during breaks in the school year, the council felt this was a good project for Ludlow Grade School and could go far in promoting childhood literacy, according to Ludlow teacher Sherry Janowski, who wrote the grant application.

A Little Free Library is a weather-proof bookcase/cabinet that will be installed in front of the school, large enough to hold books for early ages through young adult.

Children will be encouraged to borrow and return books on the honor system, with book supplies being refreshed regularly.

Volunteer help in building, painting or stocking the library is welcome, Janowski said.

Anyone interested should contact Ludlow Grade School at 217-396-5261, or Janowski at 217-493-2411.
